Parkway Bank along with several other Community Banks in the area has been the object of several types of Phishing scams. Various versions of the scam have been sent via email, text and also by phone.

These types of scams begin by disguising the originators identity so the messages appear to be coming from Parkway Bank. The scammer will try to convince you to handover your personal information to them. In previous attempts customers and non-customers who have received messages were told that their accounts had been blocked, that they have had fraudulent activity on their account and even that they would receive money for doing surveys. By using a spoofed web site or a fake telephone number these scammers try to convince you to enter in account information, Credit and Check Card numbers along with pins and expiration dates.

Parkway Bank apologizes for any inconvenience, but we would like to state that we have nothing to do with sending out these emails, texts or initiating these phone calls. Like most banks, Parkway Bank does not give out customer information. Parkway Bank will never solicit personal information through websites, or through an automated voicemail systems.

If at anytime you are contacted by someone make sure you question all intentions. If it doesn’t seem right it probably isn’t and the best thing to do would be to contact your local Parkway Bank Office immediately. Please do not respond to the texts, emails or phone calls you may have received, we feel certain they are attempting to obtain personal information such as debit card numbers, account numbers expiration dates and pins under false pretenses to be used in a fraudulent manner.

We have alerted the FBI and local authorities of the situation and we have alerted our security firm to take down the telephone numbers and websites as we are notified of there existence.

If you have receive any questionable emails, texts, or calls or if you have questions or information concerning the attacks, please forward information to fraud@parkwaybanknc.com or call any of our branches and speak to a customer service representative.
